If you think that you’re too busy to fit in a workout, what about one that lasts just 30 minutes? Nutritionist Dominique Rauber-Musey puts the Ritual Gym workout to the test

Looking for a time-efficient way of getting into shape? Then grab your kit bag and head to Ritual in Raffles Place or now Holland Village. You can squeeze changing your clothes, getting out of breath, showering and refueling your body with a protein shake all within 30 minutes.


The Studio

The slick looking gym comes with everything you need to start burning calories. But think less treadmills and stationary bikes and more free weights. When they say there are no excuses, there really aren’t any – they even provide you with fitness kit if you’ve forgotten it.

And once you’ve worked out, you’ll find everything you need to arrive back at your desk fresh and glowing – shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body lotion, hairspray and even cotton buds. And if you forget your shoes you can still workout as the shock-absorbent floor lets you exercise barefoot.

The Workout

Everyday there is a workout of the day (WOD), which is a mix and match of the nine basic exercises such as squats, push up, lunges, burpees and pull ups. To make sure every member gets the correct technique, you have to attend a trial session on your first day. With a coach you run through all exercises and get classified into a level (1, 2 or 3) for each movement.

The workout always starts with the same five-minute warm up routine followed by the WOD, which lasts between 15-20 minutes. Now you might think “20 minutes? Do you even break a sweat?” Believe me, your heart rate will hit the maximum and you’ll definitely be drenched in sweat after each session. However, if you are already used to HIIT classes you might want to do two classes in a row to feel your body sparkle with endorphins.

Sweat Results

Ritual is for sure the most time efficient gym I’ve ever seen. There is literally no excuse not to go for your workout. Even if you’ve left your workout gear at home – everything is provided, which is definitely a big plus. The introduction session makes sure you get your technique right and don’t hurt yourself. This comes in handy especially for fitness newbies. The exercises target the whole body and are based on functional training, which will improve your overall body shape and posture. If the lack of time is your all time excuse, Ritual is definitely your fitness studio.
