We know how great the Botanic Gardens are, now the rest of the world knows it too
Looking for inspiration to power you through your workout? Then how about running around lily-filled lakes, practising your downward dog under the palm trees or nailing your sprint technique on a lush green hill? All you need to do is head to Singapore’s Botanic Gardens, UNESCO’s latest World Heritage Site, where you’ll find an array of fitness fans having fun in the sun.

YogaDivas
The YogaDivas offer classes four days a week at this World Heritage Site. You will find them working practising their asanas under the trees by the Jacobs Ballas Children’s Garden or in a shady spot near the Plant House. Yoga instructor Sarah is Anusara trained, so during the class she will also help you with alignment too. Each week there’s a different theme to help boost your mind, body and soul. And if you’re new to Singapore and want to boost your social life, you can also join this friendly bunch for a juice or breakfast after class.
Book it: Visit www.yogadivas.biz. Trial class is priced $25. A four-week beginners’ course starts in September, priced $150. Mats are available, but they request you bring your own.
RUN
D.I.Y
Give a tropical twist to your morning 5km run and hit the bricks in Botanic Gardens. Within the park you’ll find numerous trails that will take you past lakes, through the rainforest and between the trees. Along the way you can spy monkeys, monitor lizards and even a kingfisher or two.
Book it: Free. If you would prefer to take in the park at a slower pace you can also download one of the park’s Online Trail Guides at http://bit.ly/1w6APsv. Here you can enjoy walks from between 60 to 90 minutes, which will tell you all about the park, its inhabitants and its history.
